SQCC Hosts Afternoon Arts & Crafts for Adults – Majmar Painting

On 30 April, guests came to SQCC to learn about the traditional Omani majmar (clay brazier for heating frankincense). Prior to painting, guests learned of the historical significance of frankincense in the Sultanate of Oman and the continued importance of the tree and its resin as a sign of hospitality in Omani society. After learning more about the Omani majmar, visitors had the opportunity to paint colorful and ornate majmars on SQCC’s sunny roof deck with glimpses of the Washington Monument in the background.
