Passport D.C. Around the World Embassy Tour 2023 at SQCC

On 6 May, SQCC participated in Passport D.C.’s annual Around the World Embassy Tour. Nearly 1300 visitors took part in the remarkable event at SQCC. Visitors toured SQCC’s permanent exhibition, where they learned about traditional Omani attire, sliver work, carpentry, basketry as well as the aflaj irrigation system. Visitors also learned about Omani forts, ships, and trade.

Visitors were introduced to Omani “bakhoor” (incense), frankincense, and rose water at the scents of Oman table, tried on traditional Omani clothing at the green screen selfie station and received Henna tattoos while listening to Omani songs on the second floor.

On the third floor of SQCC, visitors enjoyed traditional Omani coffee and dates. Adults and kids crafted their own necklaces and bracelets with beads and camel and sea turtle charms. They also drew Omani icons such as the frankincense burner, khanjar, camel, and forts on leather. Kids learned how to write Arabic sentences such as I Love Oman, Oman is a beautiful Country, Good Morning, Good Evening, Peace be Upon You, and well as Oman in a dotted traceable activity.

Visitors also enjoyed Arabic calligraphy where SQCC and volunteers wrote the visitor’s names in Arabic on paper decorated with Arabesque designs.
