About the Event

On August 18, 2023, a Boy Scouts of America troop from North Virginia visited the Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center to learn about Oman’s traditions, history, and future plans to continue modernization. The group started their visit in the Center’s library, where they learned about the wide variety of books and resources SQCC has to offer.

The group also toured the center’s exhibition, led by SQCC’s staff, where they learned about the history of SQCC, starting with the Center’s founding by His late Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al-Said, they were then educated about His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.

The group were also introduced to a wide variety of information, including the Omani Governorates, the Omani national attire, the Aflaj irrigation system, and future plans of modernization in Oman. The Boy Scouts were interested to learn more and asked questions on a variety of subjects.

The group also toured a temporary photography as well as jewelry and crafts exhibition. SQCC’s interns gave a presentation about the Omani Scouts and Guide, as well as on Oman’s Vision 2040.
