SQCC hosts Kalimah Programs for Arabic Language, Culture, and Arts

SQCC hosted a group from the Kalimah Programs for Arabic Language, Culture, and Arts Summer Camp on 9 July. The group began their visit with a tour of SQCC’s permanent exhibition in Arabic. During the tour, campers learned about Omani culture, traditional handicrafts, history and dress. After the tour of the permanent exhibition, the group then explored the temporary summer exhibition of Tolerance, Understanding, and Coexistence: Oman’s Message of Islam.

After visiting both exhibitions, the camp group learned about Omani frankincense and its cultural significance in Oman. Each camper painted their own traditional Omani majmar, or frankincense burner. SQCC provided paint, brushes, patterns, and replica majmars for the group to paint traditional designs or make up new patterns.
