About the Event

SQCC hosted its annual Omani Cultural Evening on 16 July showcasing many aspects of Omani culture and traditions through food, music, art, and activities for all ages. Many visitors came from across the metro region to attended the yearly event celebrating the history and culture of the Sultanate of Oman.

The highlight of the evening was the exhibition of “Tolerance, Understanding, Coexistence: Oman’s Message of Islam.” The world-renowned exhibition aims to increase intercultural dialogue through art while promoting mutual respect and understanding among nations and cultures.

Guests mingled over Omani coffee, dates, and halwa while touring the exhibition and learning about Oman’s millennia-long tradition of peaceful coexistence, mutual understanding, and religious tolerance. In addition to the exhibition, famed Omani artist Madny Al Bakry was on hand to discuss a collection of his paintings on display.

The event also featured live oud music and vocal performances. Participants had the chance to experience Omani culture first hand through creating and decorating their own Omani doors and learning how to write their names in Arabic. Guests also took home their own piece of Oman with henna and personalized Arabic calligraphy.
