SQCC Hosts Poetry & Prose Series with Dr. Levi Thompson

On Tuesday, 29 October, Dr. Levi Thompson delivered the third lecture in the Arabic Poetry & Prose Series at SQCC. Dr. Thompson, assistant professor of Arabic at the University of Colorado Boulder, presented on the poem “Rain Song” (أنشودة المطر) by Iraqi poet Badr Shakir al-Sayyab. His lecture featured a biography of the poet, discussion of the technical aspects of the poem, and a recitation of the poem in Arabic. After the talk, the audience participated in a Q&A session with Dr. Thompson.
