SUMMARY:Public Lecture with Dr. Elizabeth Perry - Ecotourism in Oman
DESCRIPTION:On 2 October\, Dr. Elizabeth Perry\, Ph.D.\, Clemson University\, delivered a lecture at SQCC highlighting key findings from her research on ecotourism in Oman.  As the recipient of the 2018 SQCC Research Fellowship\, Dr. Perry focused on encouraging ecotourism development at Al-Saleel Nature Park in the Al Sharqiyah region of the Sultanate. With its natural splendor\, Oman has great potential to capitalize on local\, regional\, and international ecotourism markets by directing tourists to sites such as Al-Saleel Nature Park. Dr. Perry’s presentation addressed ways to promote park ecotourism as relevant to multiple audiences — government\, private industry\, local residents\, and tourists alike. Key research findings emphasize the importance of increasing awareness about ecotourism and the need for increased institutional capacity to support ecotourism in Al-Saleel Nature Park. After Dr. Perry’s lecture\, she participated in a Q&A session with the audience.
