SUMMARY:SQCC at the Global Village of Bullis School
DESCRIPTION:On Wednesday 6 March\, SQCC participated in the Bullis School’s Global Village. The global village introduced elementary and middle school students to a variety of international cultures from around the world. Visitors to SQCC’s booth learned about Oman’s rich cultural heritage\, handcrafts\, history and beautiful scenery. Students were asked to find and mark Oman on a world map\, prepared by the school\, with an Omani flag sticker. They also took home Omani flags\, post cards\, stickers and coloring books.

SUMMARY:George Washington University students visit SQCC for pre-departure orientation
DESCRIPTION:On 22 February SQCC welcomed Arabic students from George Washington University for a pre-departure orientation in preparation for their trip to Oman. Students toured the permanent exhibition space and learned about Omani history\, culture\, and heritage. After the tour\, students learned about Omani society and cultural norms so they could get the most out of their time in the Sultanate. The presentation was followed by a Q&A session with the students.

SUMMARY:SQCC visits Burrville Elementary School for the fifth session of the Embassy Adoption Program
DESCRIPTION:On Monday 28 January\, SQCC visited the fifth graders of Burrville Elementary School for fifth session of the Embassy Adoption Program (EAP)\, a partnership program between DC Public Schools and Washington Performing Arts. Students learned about climate change in the world and its effect globally and in Oman in particular\, through a presentation delivered by SQCC staff. Students made their own mini gardens by planting small cacti in terrariums to visualize and experience the similarities between the ecosystems in both Oman and parts of the U.S. Later this year\, these students will use what they have learned at SQCC to represent Oman at EAP’s Mini-UN at the Reagan Center.
