Embassy Adoption Program 2018, Third Visit

Friday, February 2, 2018

On Friday 2 February, the Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center hosted Key Elementary School 5th graders as part of the Embassy Adoption Program--a unique education and partnership of DCPS and Washington Performing Arts. Students listened to a presentation on frankincense, while majmars (frankincense burners) filled with frankincense resin were passed around. This was the first time for many in the class to smell the aromatic resin, which has many uses such as flavoring food, neutralizing kitchen odors, and used as insect repellent, to name a few.

After the presentation, each student painted and personalized their own majmar.
