SQCC Launches New & Improved Indian Ocean Website

Monday, 29 August, 2016

SQCC is happy to announce the release of the newly upgraded ‘Indian Ocean in World History' website. This free, interactive website serves as an educational resource focused on the rich history, geography, and culture of the Indian Ocean region.

The website charts human history across the Indian Ocean sphere using seven different maps. Each map represents a respective era in the Indian Ocean region, and has individual entries about travelers, documents, artifacts, technologies and more that have emerged in and around the Indian Ocean.

The lesson plan generator, a new addition to the website, acts as a great tool for teachers; they can create their customized lesson plan to be used in the classroom by accumulating entries from various eras and completing an outline. Through its new non-Flash based system, users can also enjoy full access to all features of the website at any time on their computers, tablets, and smartphones.

SQCC is dedicated to facilitating cross-cultural exchange between Oman and America, and strives to educate a new generation of culturally sensitive and knowledgeable citizens in each society. In addition to outreach programs and activities, the Cultural Center continues to host teacher workshops and class visits on Oman and the Indian Ocean.
