Academic WorldQuest National Competition

Saturday, April 23, 2016

Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center hosted 250 students along with their coaches and chaperones for the World Affairs Councils of America (WACA) Academic WorldQuest National Competition reception on April 22. H.E. Hunaina Al Mughairy, Ambassador from Oman to the United States, and Bill Clifford, President and CEO of WACA, gave remarks and congratulated the 49 teams on making it to the national competition.

The competition took place the following day and students answered questions on topics ranging from International Trade and Finance to Food Security. SQCC’s Executive Director, Kathleen Ridolfo, read the questions for the section about the Sultanate of Oman.

World Affairs Councils of America’s World Quest is a competition for high schoolers from all over the United States to test their knowledge of global issues and foreign policy. The top two teams at the national competition this year received summer study abroad scholarships from CIEE.
