The Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center's
Summer Institute on Oman and the Gulf is an extraordinary opportunity
for students doing summer internships in the DC area, employees working
with issues related to the region, and people just interested in the
region and learning more about it. At no cost, they can obtain a
comprehensive understanding of the peoples and cultures of Oman and
neighboring countries from a variety of speakers.
The Institute features a range of
nationally and internationally renowned specialists who will address
the culture, history, economics, social change, and dynamics of this
important region. In addition to speakers from around the US, a number of speakers will
be coming from Oman.
Our Summer Institute is
underway, but we still have space available for those who would like to
attend.
Although the lectures are designed
for university and graduate students
working in the Washington DC area as interns or summer employees,
anyone with interest in the region may attend.
The lecture series began on Tuesday,
June 10 and continues through July 29, 2008. A complete
schedule of speakers and
topics is available. Lectures are scheduled after work, 5:30
pm-7 pm
with one exception, at noontime 12:00-1:30, during which a light lunch
will be served.
This program is offered free of
charge compliments of the Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center (SQCC).
All presentations will be held at
the following venue:
Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced
International Studies
Rome Auditorium, First Floor
Rome Building
1619 Massachusetts Avenue, NW,
